A struggle that all reverts and those who are not native Arabic speakers is not being able to read, write, speak or understand the true language of the Quran. Not only must we first learn the basics so that we may worship Allah (swt), but we also must strive to understand so that we can be sincere in our worship and learn the true message of Allah’s (swt) word.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it (to others).” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

It is our obligation as Muslims to accept our blessing of guidance and work hard to learn so that in shaa allah, we may be able to teach others. Learning and understanding Arabic is not an easy task, but Alhamdulillah! There are so many who know the Quran well and spend their time and resources trying to help others learn.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “God, His angels and all those in Heavens and on Earth, even ants in their hills and fish in the water, call down blessings on those who instruct others in beneficial knowledge.” [Al-Tirmidh]

Why is Understanding the Quran so Important?

We can find the answer in Surat Az-Zakhruf.

By the clear Book,Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand. And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? [43:2-43:5]

No matter how much time, how little resources, or how hard you have to work gaining knowledge is so very important to Allah (swt), yourself, and others who may benefit from your learned knowledge. Make time to learn and in shaa allah, Allah (swt) will make the path of learning easy for you.

And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts humbly submit to it. And indeed is Allah the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path. [22:54]

Praying you will benefit.
