Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah is a well-known sunnah most of us strive to follow. But did you know that there’s a simple sunnah— with amazing virtues— created specifically for Fridays? Sending salutations on the prophet, salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam!

What happens when you supplicate for the prophet?

• You’re obeying an order of Allah ‘azza wa jall [Quran, 33:56]
• It raises your rank ten levels.
• It removes ten bad deeds and adds ten good  deeds to your record.
• It’s a means to draw you closer to the prophet on the Day of Judgment.
• It’s an act the angels do.
• It allows him to return the same salutation to you.
• Its a way to earn Allah’s mercy.
• It saves you from being stingy in giving him salutations.

[As related by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawzeeyah in “Jala ul-afham fee fadlees salat wa salaam ala kahyree an-nam”]

Al-Manaawee said: There are many of words and phrases for sending salutations on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon
him). The most famous and best is: “Allahumma salli alaa Muhammadin wa alaa ali Muhammadin, kama sallayta alaa Ibraheem wa alaa ali Ibrahim” [Faydul Qadeer #1403]

• Next Friday make sure to increase your salutations on the Prophet
• Remind yourself by setting an alarm on Fridays.
• Inform and teach others, inshaa’Allah!
