For without doubt in the remembrance of God, do hearts find satisfaction. [Quran, 13:28]

Why So Much Stress?

Every human being, no matter what religion or nation, has certain needs. We want these needs to be filled so that we can gain peace and satisfaction. Allah Almighty provides these things for us and no human is deprived of these basic needs.

So why is there restlessness, anger, frustration, disappointment, stress, and depression among the people of this world? Because our way of seeking peace is wrong.

How Can We Find Peace?

The only thing that’s perfect is Allah (swt). Allah (swt) gives us all these worldly things to help us realize that these things in themselves are imperfect and that it’s only He who has perfection.

But we look for satisfaction in these things. We forgot that we are imperfect, that we can’t satisfy others. We forget that all the things and people from whom we expect to get our needs satisfied are also imperfect.

Associating Partners Robs Us of Peace

Humans associate partners with Allah (swt) and give the highest importance to one or more worldly things—family, friend, food, clothing, shelter, wealth, job, status in society, fame, appreciation, prestige, etc.— that don’t deserve to be granted this degree of importance.

We want all these things to be best for us. We desire the perfect spouse, the perfect friend, the perfect house, the best dress, the best food, the best job, etc. But sooner or later we realise that all these things are imperfect and that only Allah (swt) is perfect.

It’s time to realize that none of these imperfect things should be your priority because they can only give you pleasure for a few minutes, months, or years. The only real and everlasting pleasure is with Allah (swt). He can fulfill all your needs and lead you to peace because only He has those qualities that can satisfy a human heart.

Worship Nothing But the Giver and Sustainer of Peace

If you need inner peace then stop worshiping and running after these material things. Today, observe yourself and your surroundings and learn the fact that there is no God but Allah (swt). Feel His love— it’s within you!

Think repeatedly on these ayahs:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin. [Quran, 4:48]

But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection. [Quran, 25:3]

And rely upon Allah ; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. [Quran, 33:3]
And how many a creature carries not its [own] provision. Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. [Quran, 29:60]

Live with this reality of life. Stay blessed.
