The Stress of the Spur of the Moment

We live life each day caught up in the spur of every moment, stressed with our occupations, with school, with the responsibilities of maintaining a family. It can be overwhelming to think of all of the things on http://iupatdc5.org our to-do list— who has to go where and what needs to be done, and let’s not forget our deadlines. Meanwhile, we wonder how in the world we are ever going to manage all of these tasks.

It is at these moments that we must stop ourselves and experience a moment of clarity. Is what we are rushing around for so important that we disregard our deen and our responsibilities to Allah (swt)? No matter how much good we try to do, without remembering Allah (swt) our efforts are fruitless and our energy is wasted.

Veering off the Straight Path

Shaytan easily pulls us off the straight path with many meaningless distractions, but Allah (swt) has given us the most wonderful of gifts that sits unopened on our bookshelves or on our bedside tables.

So, you may be wondering, why read the Quran? Will it really improve your life and bring peace? Keep reading to find out why the who, what, and when is holding you back and how the Quran holds the answers to all questions and offers the best of guidance.

This [Qur’an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah . [3:138]

Who is holding you back and Who can inspire change?

Often we hold ourselves back. We either make heavy schedules or make too many promises with not enough time to finish our tasks or fulfill our obligations to Allah (swt), or we fill our days with idleness and become lazy, not utilizing our skills and talents, meanwhile feeling too down to pour our hearts into our acts of worship.

But yes, whoever fulfills his commitment and fears Allah – then indeed, Allah loves those who fear Him. [3:76]

We have also each been blessed with inspiration and creativity, and with a little help from Allah (swt) we can learn how to use these talents to benefit ourselves as well as benefit others while striving to please and serve a greater purpose in this life to prepare for the eternal life. We can do this by listening to the words of the most Wise and fulfilling our commitments to Him, first and foremost.

What makes your day stressful and what can make it easier?

Think about the way you start your day. You wake up late, you miss Fajr, and skip breakfast. You rush off to work or school feeling defeated before the day has even begun. You get home to an untidy house and unfinished chores and you snap at your spouse and push your children or family away and go to sleep angry and frustrated. Now would be time to remember Allah (swt) and ask Him to help you have a better day, in shaa Allah.

Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide. [29:23]

Now, lets think about moving forward. Imagine waking up and feeling the morning breeze, and watching the sunrise while preparing for the Fajr prayer, afterwards becoming inspired by the words of our Creator. How refreshing to relax and prepare breakfast, enjoying your family before the busy day begins. You finish tidying, prepare yourself for work or school and leave feeling confident and thankful for a beautiful day.

Alhamdulillah, which day would you prefer?

When is the right time and when is too late?

We all know that no second is ever promised, so the right time to start making peace is now. By putting it off until tomorrow, or waiting until next week, or maybe even next month, how much time actually passes before we are motivated to start? In the meanwhile, we get bogged down with distractions and temptations and forget to remember Allah (swt), unknowingly becoming ungrateful for the time He has granted us to earn His pleasure.

Every soul will taste death [3:185]

Allah (swt) warns, we just have to take time to read and understand and of course take heed. If we start making an effort to change now instead of waiting until tomorrow, in shaa allah, our efforts will be recognized and He will increase us in understanding and forgive us for our shortcomings.

How to obtain peace and how to share it

There may be turmoil and upset all around, but we can create peace by simply learning and applying what we have learned to our everyday lives. If you think you have no time to learn, think about all that you do in a day.

If you oversleep, start sleeping an hour less each day to give yourself time to read and contemplate and connect with Allah (swt). If you spend idle time on social networking sites, shopping, or playing games on the computer, sign up for a course that will allow you to learn Quran in Arabic so that you may develop a deeper connection with the words of the All Mighty.

If Arabic is your native language or you have been blessed with knowledge of the language and deeper understanding, apply to become a Quran teacher and change the lives of others.

These are only a few suggestions, be creative and discover what works for you. If we all take just a little bit more time to remember, thank, and worship Allah (swt), in shaa allah, our lives will change for the better, we can find peace and spread that peace to all we come across. So start reading, learning and teaching and may Allah (swt) bless and guide you for all that you do.

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone) [8:2

Praying you will benefit.
