In the name of Allah, The Abundantly Merciful, Always All Merciful: All perfect praise be to Allah alone; peace and blessings of Allah be upon His messenger, his family, his companions, and those who follow his guidance.
Allah (swt) says about the Quran, If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah . And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. [Quran, 59: 21]
This is the effect that the Quran would have on a majestic mountain – which has the monumental task of holding the Earth firm. Do our hearts tremble and grow humble upon hering Allah’s spoken word? Do our lives revolve and evolve around Quranic teachings? The analogy is divine and mankind must indeed ponder upon the example.
Throughout the Quran Allah (swt) calls it a miracle, a blessing, a healer, a mercy and a reminder among many other attributes attached to it. In the wake of hundreds of Ahadeeth and Quranic verses that teach us the virtues of Allah’s book, this is a humble attempt in trying to understand what the Quran is and what the Quran does to us, to truly reap its guidance and rewards.
A Sign and a Miracle
We know that the Quran is the word of Allah (swt)— a miracle in itself. This belief forms a fundamental part of our faith. Moreover, Allah (swt) says in the Quran that it’s a sign for mankind in every true sense.
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. [Quran, 3:190]
The Quran is filled with verses that draw our attention to the sky above us, to the earth beneath us, to the trees around us, to the sun, the moon, the rain, to all that we can never live without but ever take for granted. The Quran eternally reminds us that we ought to recognize our creator’s stamp on every single thing— big or small— surrounding us.
The Quran’s miracle essentially lies in its guidance for those who are mindful of Allah; to produce the likes of Abu Bakr (ral) ; to transform the likes of Umar (ral); to take each one of us from ignorance and heedlessness towards enlightenment and salvation.
Besides, theQuran’s awe-inspiring presence, unchanged and unmarred for over a thousand years, is still worth exploring.
Allah (swt) chose Arabic to reveal His words of wisdom. Classical Arabic is a language of great fluency and simplicity, and the language of the prophet and his community.
Allah (swt) says the Quran is: In a clear Arabic language. [Quran, 26:195].
The inherent ability to expand and absorb new concepts made classical Arabic a rich language and a great tool for the pre-Islamic poets.
With the spread of Islam, classical Arabic became a prominent language of scholarship and religious devotion as the language of the Quran, at times even spreading faster than the religion.
Refuting the claims of many who attribute the Quran to a human masterpiece, Allah (swt) challenges humanity: Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. [Quran, 52:34]
No human being has ever been able to construct anything like the Quran or even a few verses of it. No prose in Arabic or any other language has come near to the eloquence and beauty of Allah’s pristine words. The grammatical precision, the rhythmic eloquence and the phonetic beauty that is consistent throughout the Quran is something that has never been matched— a linguistic miracle indeed.
Embedded in this divine language are more marvels in numerology, history, and science, layer upon layer. The Quran lies far beyond the productive capacity of man and is truly a timeless miracle sent to us from Allah (swt).
Allah (swt) says: Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction. [Quran, 4:82]
It is also the most read book, from cover to cover, and the only book that is being preserved in human memory— every word of it.
Allah (swt) says: Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian. [Quran, 15:9]
The Quran was revealed over 1400 years ago. The message of the Quran is preserved by generations of those obedient and faithful servants of Allah (swt) who learn, act, and pass it on. The text of the Quran is preserved by those millions of people of various nationalities across the world and of various ages who memorize it.
Since its revelation in the Arabian Peninsula, the religion of Islam has spread to every nook and corner of the world, crossing all boundaries— not by sword, not by force.
The living language and style of the Quran remains easy for anyone to understand and ponder. The enduring idioms, metaphors, and parables address the whole breadth of society, from the farmer to the philosopher, from the sailor to the scientist. The Quran continues to be as relevant to our community as it was for the Bedouin tribes of Arabia.

Yes we must read Al-Quran every day at least 10 verses. The prophet s.a.w. said : Those who read 9 verses a day is the Forgetful person. Try to complete reading at least once in the month of Ramadan since the sunnah of our prophet s.a.w. read with Angel Jibrail (Taddarus/One Read and the other listen) minimum 2 persons).
In Malaysia many Masjid had at least one group 3-5 persons reading one Chapter per night till the middle of Ramadan and then more than a Chapter after that to finish reading the 30 chapters on the 25th or 27th night of Ramadan with Khatam of Alquran after the yearly Ramadan Tarawikh prayer of 8 Rakaat or 20 Rakaat. Many Masjid pray 3 Rakaat witir before the Taddarus of Al-Quran to those who are interested taking part in the yearly activity. Those who pray Witir more than 3 Rakaat, they pray 2 Rakaat with the Imam and then continue prayer at their home.
Try to read and Khatam Al-Quran another 11 months either self-reading or Taddarus. In another Hadith the prophet s.a.w. likes/encourage us to Khatam every 40 days but it is difficult for the 1st level of Muslim(GENERAL GROUP). Perhaps the 2nd level of Muslims(KHAWAS group) or the highest level of the Muslim (KHAWATUL KHAWAS group) could perform the encouragement of our prophet s.a.w. to achieve 9 times Khatam a year or every 40 days.
We doa to Allah to give us TAUFIQ /strength to perform our intention at least 2 times a year Khatam till 9 times a year or 40 days per Khartam slowly year to year when our age increases. WA MA TAU FIQ QI IL LAA BILL LLAH.(Quran). Taufiq is in the controll of Allah. To get Taufiq to perform any good deeds, we must make Doa. Many Muslims had the ILM/Knowledge but no Taufiq to perform the good deeds.
