219-INSPIRATION

 By Ibn Idris

Indeed the best speech is the speech of Allah (swt) and the best guidance is the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (saws).

No Excuse

Or lest you (pagan Arabs) should say: “If only the Book had been sent down to us, we would surely have been better guided than they (Jews and Christians).” So now has come unto you a clear proof (the Quran) from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy” [Quran, 6:157]

As a human being, we tend to be in different phases according to the different situations we may face in life. There may always be the ones whom Allah guided and they will remain constant in their devotion to Allah, thus never fail to miss out on their duties as obedient and grateful slaves to the Master of the Alamin.

However, there are also those who, no matter what evidence, miracle, or logic presented to them, their ignorance and stubbornness stops their hearing, sight, and hearts so that they close an eye to the real truth. Therefore Allah (swt), knowing them as such, seals their hearts, and verily whomsoever Allah leaves to go astray, there is none that can guide.

“I Can’t Find Peace!”

The day is never 24 hours of sunshine, nor do all nights come with full moons. To enjoy and benefit from the light, we have to patiently and consistently strive our way out of the dark.

It is evident that we are bound to face uneasiness, discomfort, lack of passion, and helpless. We are surely to be tested with comfort, luxuries, and honour.

Regardless, our duty on earth as the slaves of Allah is to worship Him no matter what state, situation, or circumstance we are in.

Only in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace.

Happiness and peace are what human beings ever run after. While in the process, he or she will either attain true peace and comfort or what seems pleasant and attractive, but this will never quench the longing for peace.

“But my situation is different!”

Once the heart is revived, joyful, content, and grateful, life will always seem to be filled with bright light, regardless of whether it is dark, gloomy, or stormy the outside is.

This revival is sought by none other than the one who is its Creator, Maker, Controller, and Provider, Allah (swt). This is the reason behind why many hearts are healed and guided through His word— the glorious Quran. It addresses the whole of humanity without exception.

Read on for a glance at only a few of the many enlightening admonitions from the Quran itself.

The Deniers

  • “Who then does more wrong than one who rejects the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah and turns away therefrom? We shall requite those who turn away from Our Ayat with an evil torment, because of their turning away (from them).” [Quran, 6:157]

The Neglectful

The doubter, the hypocrite, the lazy all find that there is no room for play, conjecture, or belittlement when Allah (swt) speaks of His ability to know the hidden secrets of men. He will hold them to account with justice for their deeds as small as an atom’s weight.

  • So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it. [Quran, 99:7-8]

The Idle

  • And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart— about all those [one] will be questioned. [Quran, 17:36]
  • You will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them].”  [Quran, 18:49]

The Sinner

  • Say: “O ‘Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Quran, 39:53]
  • And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped.  [Quran, 39:54]

The Fearful

  • They shall have coverings of Fire, above them and covering (of Fire) beneath them; with this Allah does frighten His slaves: “O My slaves, therefore fear Me!” [Quran, 39:16]

The Distressed

  • So We answered his call, and We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him (that he had lost), and the like thereof along with them, as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all who worship Us.  [Quran, 21:84]

 The Weak

  • He said: “I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you know not.”  [Quran, 12:86]

The Sick

If we are tested by illness, we can read the narrations about prophet Ayub (as).

  • And (remember) Ayub (Job), when he cried to his Lord: “Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.” [Quran, 21:83]

 There’s still more.

Final Advice

At one point or another, we may feel any of these and reach for other ways in which to comfort ourselves, but the best and most rewarding place we should search for consultation is the word of our Creator, Almighty Allah (swt).

Therefore, we have by no means any excuse to abandon and neglect the healing addresses of the Quran. Don’t let even a day go by without the Quran!

What is stopping you from remembering the one who created you, provides for you, controls you, consoles you, heals and loves you, and is most merciful to you?

May the Creator Al-Mighty Allah (swt) revive and heal the diseases of our hearts through His words, the Quran. Ameen.
